The Italian manufacturer became Marcegaglia took an important step to expand its capacities for the production of steel, signing an agreement with the Italian manufacturer Danieli on the beginning of the engineering phase of the Mistral mini-plant in the Fos-Sur-Mer, France. The project marks significant investments in automated production of steel with a low level of emissions, designed to meet the growing demand for hot-rolled rolls (HRC).
The volume and power of the project
the new mini-zavod will produce up to 2.1 million tons of HRC from stainless and carrier-based steel in A year, providing a Cold rolling complex of Marcegaglia in Ravenna, Italy, and satisfying about 30 percent of the general demand of the HRC company. It is expected that the Mistral Mini-Zavod, with the support of Danieli Automation, will begin production by mid-2028.
The main technological features
- Electrostal-melting workshop: equipped with Danieli Fastarc Zerobucet stove, system continuous loading of ECS scrap and a pre-heating system Tornado.
- Process Optimization: Adaptive management of the Q-Melt process with autopilot, two-icing refinement and a two-tank vacuum degassing for efficiency and quality.
- casting and rollering: a foundry with one persistent, which produces a thickness of the thickness of the thickness 200–250 mm, will nourish both a new hot strip mill and a sang-jorgio-di-nogaro sheet mill.
