The data showed that the manufacturing sector registered 5.4 percent growth in July compared to the same month of the previous year. Electricity production recorded a slight increase of 0.6 percent. However, the mining sector was lagging behind, with production declining by 7.2 percent during the month due to heavy monsoon rains that affected production. The infrastructure and construction sector recorded double-digit growth of 11.9% year-on-year.
Production of capital goods, including machinery used in factories, increased by 5% in July, while durable consumer goods such as refrigerators, air conditioners and televisions increased by 7.7% during the month, the data showed.
