ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada has filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Liberty Steel & Wire Peoria in the U.
S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois. The case revolves around allegations of non-payment and improper handling of blanks in accordance with a supply contract signed in October 2023.
Statements in the lawsuit
According to the statement, Liberty Steel allegedly failed to pay for the blanks, as stipulated in the contract, improperly disposed of the consignment blanks and destroyed its Georgetown facility while still storing ArcelorMittal materials.
The lawsuit seeks damages of approximately $2.7 million plus 12 percent per annum, citing breach of contract, conversion and unjustified enrichment.
