The company recently completed an upgrade, which was an important step in improving production efficiency and product quality. The upgrade included the installation of a sixth-generation intelligent clamping roller and stacking head, equipped with electric motors, advanced drives and a modern automation system.
Previously, Stahl Gerlafingen had struggled with frequent production problems due to the outdated stacking head, including excessive vibration, unplanned stops, poor front orientation, and uneven coil packages. By adopting the new Primetals Technologies stacking head, the Swiss steelmaker eliminated these problems and ensured smoother and more reliable production.
