Polish JSW company expands coking coal reserves with new long face at Budryk mine

Polish coking coal producer Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa SA (JSW) has announced that it has started work on a new large long wall at its Budryk mine. The extended wall of Bw-1, located in reservoir 405/2, contains reserves of type 35.1 coking coal in the amount of more than 1.6 million tons, which strengthens JSW's strategy to increase production efficiency.

Operational life and strategic impact

The Bw-1 is expected to remain in service until May 2027. According to Adam Rosemus, JSW's Vice President for Technical and Operational Affairs, the project is an important step towards increasing coking coal output to 95 percent of total production.

The commissioning of the long wall coincides with operational tests on another major investment, the expansion and modernization of the Budryk Processing Plant, designed to maximize coking coal production.
