The investigation was launched following a petition filed by local manufacturer Orrcon Manufacturing Pty Ltd, which alleged that there had been circumvention activities involving minor modification of goods exported to Australia from China. The commission is expected to finalize its report on the recommendations by December 23, 2025 and submit a final report on the decision to the Australian Minister of Industry and Science no later than February 6, 2026.
The current rates of anti-dumping duties on hollow structural sections are 23.5 percent for Taiwan, 20.8 percent for Malaysia, 13.8 percent for South Korea and in the range of 1-30.4 percent for China, while countervailing duties on hollow structural sections from China are determined in the range of 3.3-26.3 percent.
