Aperm Stainless Belgium, part of the Luxembourg global manufacturer of stainless steel Aperm SA, announced that she took another step towards decarbonization by signing a long -term electricity agreement (PPA) with the Belgian investment company LRM.
the transaction provides renewable electricity from Kristal Solar Park in Lommel, the largest photoelectric installation in Belgium, which even more coordinates Aperm with a strategy for low-carbon stainless steel.
Extension Kristal Solar Park
Kristal Solar Park is experiencing a significant expansion of € 12 million, the LRM in the city of Lomel and Nyrstar. The project will add 50,000 solar panels and is planned to be put into operation in November 2025.
Aperm will receive green electricity directly from this extension, integrating stable energy into its obligations.
The goals and the decarbonization strategy
The agreement is directly related to the climatic obligations of Aperm:
- zero emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050
- 20 percent reduction of the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 according to areas of 1, 2 and 3 (basic level: 2021)
