In the second quarter, Turkey, South Korea, China, India and Ukraine were the main countries of origin of finished steel imported into the EU. The first five countries accounted for 57 percent of the EU's total finished steel imports in the first six months. Turkey became the leading exporting country to the EU with a share of 21 percent, followed by South Korea with 12 percent, China with nine percent, and Ukraine and India with eight percent each.
In April-June, imports of finished goods from Ukraine increased significantly by 44 percent, while imports from Turkey and China increased by 41 percent and 11 percent, respectively. On the other hand, imports from India, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea decreased by 50 percent, 40 percent, 17 percent, and 16 percent, respectively.
