Imports of coking coal to Turkey decreased by 14.1% in January-July%

In July of this year, Turkey's coking coal imports totaled 518,154 metric tons, up 38 percent from June and 168 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, revenue from these imports amounted to $97.82 million, an increase of 39.9% compared to the previous month and 95.9% year-on-year.

In the first seven months of this year, the import of coking coal to Turkey amounted to 2.85 million tons, which is 14.1 percent less, while the value of these imports decreased by 42.3 percent to $523.50 million, year-on-year.

During the specified period, Australia was the largest source of coking coal imports to Turkey with 1.24 million tons, which is 28.1% less than in the previous year. Australia is followed by the United States with 1.11 million tons, which is 9.6% less than in the same period of the previous year, and Russia with 320,273 tons, which is 35.1% more than in the same period last year.
