South Korean steel company Posco Holdings announced that it has deepened its cooperation with the Australian organization of scientific and industrial research of the Commonwealth (CSIRO), signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU). Studies in the field of iron production technologies with a reduced carbon content and processing of critical minerals, as well as the creation of a stable, environmentally friendly metallurgical industry in Australia. This partnership follows the creation of a research center laboratory called the Posco Australia Critical Minerals R&D Lab in May 2025.

Memorandum of understanding describes a wide range of cooperation both in the field of ferrous metallurgy and in the most important minerals:
- Development Development Development Hydrogen recovery technologies for reducing emissions during steel production
- Technologies for the refinement and disposal of lithium for secondary battery materials
- technology for extracting and separation of rare-earth metals To support advanced production
to implement these purposes, the framework program includes joint research projects, information and samples, the creation of regular communication channels and annual technology exchange meetings.

thanks to this cooperation, Posco seeks to use the rich resource base of Australia, use the technological experience of the CSIRO and, in combination with the industrial capabilities of Posco, strengthen competitiveness in prey.
