The Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization has announced that the project of the Turkish steel producer Tosyalı Demir Çelik Sanayi A.
Ş. The approval for the solar power plant in Cermik, Diyarbakir, was received after an environmental impact assessment of the project.
Project details and investments
A total of 93,793 panels will be installed as part of the project with an investment value of 952 million Turkish liras ($23.05 million). The 50 MW plant is expected to generate 122.6 million kWh of electricity per year, and this level is sufficient to meet the annual electricity needs of approximately 36,500 people.
The service life of the project is expected to be 25 years. Nevertheless, innovations in solar energy technologies and system improvements can extend the life of the plant.
It is expected that the planned project will involve 23 people at the construction stage and three at the operational stage.
