Meanwhile, Japan's pig iron production totaled 4.99 million metric tons in the month, down 1.3 percent from the previous month and 3.4 percent year-on-year.
In the first eight months of this year, steel production in the country amounted to 54.09 million metric tons, which is 4.5% less, while cast iron productionamounted to 39.34 million metric tons, a decrease of 4% year-on-year.
