According to the monthly consumer trends survey published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the consumer confidence index * in Turkey, which stood at 84.3 points in August this year, decreased by 0.4 percent month-on-month to 83.9 points in September this year, having previously increased by 0.9 percent in August.
According to indexes based on individual questions asked by Turkish consumers about the consumer trend, in September the index for the overall current economic situation rose 0.5 percent month-on-month to 54.1 points, while the index for the overall economic situation in the next 12 months decreased 0.5 percent compared to August to 78.0 points.
Meanwhile, in this month, the index of whether the present time is suitable for buying durable goods increased by 5.6 percent to 52.5 points, while the index of the probability of buying durable goods in the next 12 months increased by 0.9 percent to 105.7 points, on a monthly basis.
In September, the probability of buying a car in the next 12 months increased by 1.8 percent to 24.3 points, and the index of the probability of buying or building a house in the next 12 months increased by 6.9 percent to 14.4 points, both months on month.
*When the index is above 100, it indicates an optimistic forecast, when it is equal to 100, it indicates a neutral forecast, and below 100, it indicates a pessimistic forecast.
