The business structure of the owner of the majority of the metallurgical and mining sector of Ukraine Rinat Akhmetov actively build up the extraction of coking coal in Russia, and also show interest in the development of natural gas on the Black Sea shelf and the extraction of non-traditional gas in Donetsk and Kharkov regions. About this is written by Alexander Kramar in the next room in the next room in the next room “ Ukrainian week "
According to the expert, the interest of the largest private energy holding of Ukraine DTEK in the extraction and processing of coal is due to the fact that it is high gas prices that make this business more profitable and open up new prospects in innovative gas production from coal.
Moreover, DTEK not only concentrates coaling assets in Ukraine, but also actively increases the extraction of this fuel in the Ukrainian Donbass and in the Rostov region of Russia.
“Already in 2013, the volumes obtained there should grow 4.6 times - up to 1 million 800 thousand tons. In addition, the myth of problems that create high gas prices with metallurgical assets of Rinat Akhmetov is also seriously exaggerated. If, before the crisis of 2008-2009, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises consumed 9-10 billion m³ of gas annually, then in 2011 these volumes decreased to 5.5 billion m³, and in 2012 did not even reach 3.9 billion m³. At the same time, the SCM enterprises consume almost half of this volume, and the planned (and already implemented by metinvest) is the use of dust -contaminating technology of fuel, as a result, the gas consumption of the oligarch for oligarch missilers is generally up to 1 billion m³ per year, ”writes Alexander Kramar.
Such a volume for its enterprises may well be mined in Ukraine, he adds.
“In parallel, the structures of Akhmetov show interest in production as gas on the Black Sea shelf (Vanco Prykerchenska) and non -traditional gas, which can bring maximum profits in the conditions of expensive imported fuel,” the expert notes.
So, according to him, in December 2012, DTEK and the Australian company LINC Energy, which has been engaged in underground gasification of coal at the deposits in Australia for 12 years, agreed on cooperation and signed a memorandum of mutual understanding and agreement, the development of preliminary technical and economic justification for the production of synthesis gas by underground gasification of the coal in Ukraine.
“DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko said that the synthesis-gaz production in 2014 expects the beginning of production, and its predicted cost should be lower than the shale and the internal production of natural gas,” said Alexander Kramar.
Rinat Akhmetov’s enterprises are actively interested in Russian coal and Ukrainian gas
