Brazil exported 5,500 tons of plates in September, down from 7,200 tons in August and 30,800 tons in July, according to SISCOMEX.
The decline largely reflected a lack of exports to the United States in September and August and 17,700 tons in July.
All September exports went to the south American countries, averaging $868/t, shipped by Usiminas (5200 t at $872/t), traders (200 t at $804/t) and CSN (100 t at $782/t), on terms FOB.
Brazil, meanwhile, imported 1,600 tons of heavy sheets in September, up from 940 tons in August.
Import sources included Europe (900 tons at US$1,108 per ton) and China (700 tons at US$754 per ton), also on FOB terms.
