Following the October 8 fire at its Fos-sur-Mer facility in France, ArcelorMittal confirmed that the immediate priority remains to ensure the safety of work at the site, which is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
The company said it is working closely with local authorities and internal teams to ensure that all safety and environmental protocols are followed before resuming any production activities.
Production units configured during recovery
Due to incidentseveral operations have been temporarily changed. The blast furnace and steel mill remain closed, while the city chain has extended its scheduled repairs. At the same time, the coke plant continues to operate using its own gas, while the belt line, finishing and logistics departments remain active to process and ship existing reserves.
ArcelorMittal teams are currently dismantling and repairing the damaged infrastructure. Based on the current analysis and delivery dates of materials, the company intends to partially restart the steel mill in early December.
A full return to normal operation is still being considered and will depend on the progress of repairs and the stability of the supply chain.
To reduce disruptions, some orders have been transferred to other ArcelorMittal plants across Europe, and slabs are supplied externally to cover year-end production needs.
