Turkey's Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has announced the completion of the review and assessment process for an environmental impact assessment (EIA) application submitted by local steel manufacturer Tosçelik Profil ve Sac Endüstrisi A.
Ş. for its solar power project in Siverek, Sanliurfa, and to begin an environmental impact assessment.
The project, with an investment cost of 2.6 billion Turkish lira ($61.92 million), will install a total of 229,794 panels with a power of 725 W each. The 119 MWe plant is expected to generate 300 million kWh of electricity per year. Additionally, the project's lifespan is expected to be 49 years. The generated energy will be used at Tosçelik plants in Hatay. Construction of the facility is planned to be completed in approximately 11 months.
