According to a statement released by the Turkish Steel Association (TCUD), Turkey's crude steel production increased by 7.2 percent year-on-year to 3.19 million tons in September this year, maintaining its position as the world's seventh-largest steel producing country, while in the first nine months, production rose one percent year-on-year to 28.07 million tons. Turkey's ingot and slab production stood at 2.03 million tonnes and 1.15 million tonnes in September, up 8.6% and 4.8% year-on-year respectively. Turkey produced 17.81 million tons of billets between January and September, up 4.2 percent, compared with 10.25 million tons of slabs, down 4.1 percent from the same period in 2024.
Turkey's finished steel consumption rose 9.6 percent year-on-year to 3.1 million tons in the month, while From January to September, the country's finished steel consumption increased 3.9 percent year-on-year to 28.9 million tons.
Turkey's steel exports rose 7.6 percent to 1.4 million tons in September, while the value of those exports fell 0.2 percent year-on-year to $900.5 million. In the first nine months, the country's steel exports rose 12.1 percent to 11.4 million tons, while the value of those exports increased 3.8 percent to $7.7 billion year on year.
