India has imposed a five-year anti-dumping duty (AD) on HRC imported from Vietnam, the government said in a notice on Thursday, November 14.
The AD tax of $121.55/ton on imports of hot-rolled flat steel products from Vietnam for five years is aimed at protecting domestic producers from cheap imports, the notice says.
The introduction of the fee was recommended by the Directorate General. means of Legal Protection (DGTR), it says.
In August of this year, DGTR recommended the introduction of an AD levy on hot-rolled flat rolled alloy and non-alloy steel imported from Vietnam for five years, but not on clad, clad or coated products.
These products are used in major industries, including automotive, oil and gas, capital goods, construction, and mechanical engineering. In particular, hot-rolled flat rolled products made of stainless steel are excluded from the scope of this measure.
The dumping investigation was launched in August 2024 following a petition filed by JSW Steel Limited and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Limited.
Imports from Vietnam accounted for about 21 percent of the total imports of hot-rolled flat products to India, despite the fact that the domestic industry maintained sufficient capacity to meet national demand, DGTR reported in an investigation report.
