According to the Chinese customs authorities, exports of steel sheet/rolled steel products in China in January-October this year amounted to 60.45 million tons, which is 3.5 percent lower compared to the same period last year.
In October alone, China exported 5.97 million tons of steel sheet/rolled products, down 22.6 percent from the same period last year, down 6.7 percent month-on-month.
In October, HRC export prices in China initially declined, but rose by the end of the month, with the highest price level during the month being $480/t FOB on average from large factories observed between October 1 and October 13, and the lowest level was $473/t FOB, observed on October 17-27, according to SteelOrbis data.
Market participants believe that the easing of trade tensions between China and the United States may create favorable conditions for the recovery of exports in November and December, which will have a positive impact on HRC exports in China.
