According to data released by the Japan Ship Exporters Association (JSEA), Japanese export orders for new ships in October this year fell by 42.8 percent by tonnage compared to the previous month, falling to nine ships, including two general cargo ships, five air carriers and two tankers, compared with 19 ships registered in September, for a total tonnage of 392,814 gross tons.
In the first ten months of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for 141 ships with a total displacement of 6.87 million gross tons, down 31.4 percent from last year.
On the other hand, in October, Japan exported 18 ships with a total displacement of 708,153 gross tons, compared with 20 ships total with a displacement of 791,080 gross tons registered in September.
In the first ten months of this year, Japan exported 170 ships totaling 7.37 million gross tons, an increase of 5.5 percent year on year.
