In October, steel production in Asia and Oceania totaled 102.4 million tons, which is 8.2% less than last year. China's production volume was 72.0 million tons, which is 12.1 percent less, while Japan produced 6.9 million tons, which is 1.0 percent less, India - 13.6 million tons, which is 5.9 percent more, and South Korea - 5.1 million tons, which is 5.8 percent less, compared with the same period last year.
The EU-27 countries produced 10.8 million tons of crude steel in October, which is 3.5% less than last year. During the specified period, production in Germany amounted to 3.1 million tons, which is 3.0 percent less than in the same period last year. Turkey produced 3.2 million tons of steel in October, an increase of 3.1% year-on-year, leaving Germany for the second month in a row.
In the CIS, steel production amounted to 6.4 million tons, down 5.1 percent from the same period last year, while estimated production in Russia was 5.3 million tons, down 6.2 percent from the same period last year.
