According to the monthly consumer trends survey published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the consumer confidence index* in Turkey, which stood at 83.6 points in October this year, rose 1.6 percent month-on-month in November this year to 85.0 points, having previously declined by 0.3 percent in October.
According to indices based on individual questions asked of Turkish consumers regarding consumer trends, the overall current economic situation index rose 6.1 percent month-on-month to 57.1 points in November, while the overall current economic situation index for the next 12 months rose 1.3 percent from October to 79.6 points.
However, the month's index of whether the present is a good time to buy durable goods increased by 11.3 percent to 60.9 points, and the index of the probability of purchasing durable goods in a given month increased by 11.3 percent to 60.9 points. The next 12 months rose 0.9 percent to 105.0 points on a monthly basis.
In November, the likelihood of buying a car in the next 12 months fell one percent to 23.3 points, and the index of the likelihood of buying or building a house in the next 12 months rose 5.4 percent to 14.9 points on a monthly basis.
*When the index is above 100, it indicates an optimistic outlook, when it is 100, it indicates a neutral outlook, and below 100, it indicates a pessimistic outlook.
