Turkish pipe manufacturer Erciyas Çelik Boru Sanayi A.
Ş. announced that it has secured a new strategic contract in Romania after winning a tender from Romanian natural gas transmission operator Transgaz to build a 42-kilometer hydrogen-ready pipeline. According to Erciyas, winning the tender will strengthen its competitive position in Europe and is in line with its strategy to become the supplier of choice for infrastructure projects focused on the transition from natural gas to hydrogen.
Erciyas said it has submitted the most competitive proposal for Lot 1 of the tender for the supply of pipes for the project "Conductă de Transport Gaze Naturale DN 600 Mihai Bravu - Siliştea."
Hydrogen ready infrastructure to support Romania's energy transition
The pipeline will be manufactured to technical standards that support hydrogen blending and future hydrogen transport, in line with Transgaz's long-term goal of making its system fully ready for use hydrogen.
The contract has both national and regional significance. For Romania, the project strengthens the natural gas transportation infrastructure. At the European level, the pipeline contributes to the EU's broader goals of energy security and diversification.
Ersiyas said the contract is worth 40 million lei, equivalent to about 390 million Turkish lira at current exchange rates.
