Speaking to Turkey's CNBC-e, Haluk Kayabasi, CEO of Turkey's Kibar Holding, stressed the importance of protecting Turkey's domestic production, saying he expects safeguards to be put in place against dumped stainless steel imports from China and Indonesia as part of Turkey's ongoing anti-dumping investigation. Stressing that dumped imports from the Far East have caused significant damage to local producers, Mr Kayabashi said a possible double-digit anti-dumping duty would protect the domestic market and help restore fair competition. pressure from cheap imports from the Far East. Therefore, 2025 was not an easy year. However, given the decline in inflation and the achievement of more reasonable levels, I believe that from 2026 the Turkish steel industry can breathe a sigh of relief, he said.
Anti-dumping expectations
Noting that POSCO Assan conducted a comprehensive and scientific study before filing an anti-dumping application. In a petition filed in June last year that revealed dumped sales based on a nine-month analysis, Kayabasi said: “Our research showed that stainless steel products entered the Turkish market with double-digit dumping margins. Therefore, we expect a double-digit duty to be announced.” Adding that the potential anti-dumping duty will not create additional price pressure, he noted that POSCO Assan is committed to meeting domestic demand through local production supported by the competitive advantages that the duty will bring.
The final decision on the investigation is expected to be announced soon by the Ministry of Commerce.
