According to the British manufacturer Primetals Technologies, the company has received an order from the Japanese steel manufacturer Toyo Kohan Co., Ltd for the modernization of the etching line at the Toyo Kohan Kudamatsu plant in Japan, with the overall completion of the project scheduled for 2028.
Primetals stated that the project will include a comprehensive upgrade of the roll handling system on the entrance side using new transportation equipment designed to automate the movement of the roll from the roll warehouse to the processing line. According to the technology supplier, this will significantly increase processing efficiency and operational flow.
As part of the modernization, the existing etching tanks will be replaced with polypropylene tanks. Primetals explained that this change will simplify maintenance by eliminating the need for complex tank designs made from multiple materials.
According to Primetals Technologies, the scope of delivery also includes the installation of an advanced laser welding machine (LBW). The upgraded LBW will be equipped with the company's latest laser cutting head and splash-free welding head, which improves both reliability and performance compared to conventional fiber laser welding.
