Emsteel, one of the UAE's largest steel producers, has supplied low carbon sheet piles to a major UK rail infrastructure project, marking further progress in the company's strategy to expand value-added steel exports to sustainability-focused markets.
The material was supplied through UK partner Sheet Piling (UK) limited and used in the Oxford Railway expansion project station at a cost of £161 million ($215 million), led by Network. Railway with Cyrus as general contractor. Sheet piles have been used in retaining structures for bridges and underpasses, helping to expand capacity at the station.
Market reports note that Emsteel's participation in the project highlights its ability to meet stringent technical specifications and carbon reduction requirements, reflecting a broader shift by Middle Eastern manufacturers towards specification-based exports rather than price-based sales. with Europe's decarbonization goals and the goals of the EU Carbon Border Framework. Emsteel, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, has an annual steel production capacity of about 3.5 million tons and cement of 4.6 million tons. Approximately 30 percent of products are exported to more than 70 markets. The company's product range includes rebar, wire rod, heavy sections and sheet piles, satisfying both standard construction needs and specialized infrastructure projects.
