Last November, scrap imports to Turkey decreased by 6.7 percent year-on-year and increased by 35.3 percent month-on-month to 1.74 million metric tons, according to data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports amounted to $628.51 million, a decrease of 10.3% year-on-year and an increase of 35.4% month-on-month.
In the first eleven months of 2025, scrap metal imports to Turkey amounted to 16.97 million tons, which is 6.7 percent less, while the value of these imports decreased by 16.9 percent to $6.31 billion, year-on-year.
Scrap imports to Turkey - for the last 12 months
During the period, Turkey imported 3.25 million tons of scrap from the United States, down 23.2 percent year-on-year, with the United States being the leading source of scrap imports to Turkey, ahead of the Netherlands, which supplied 2.47 million tons in the period, down 2.1 percent year-on-year, and the United Kingdom, which supplied 1.96 million tons of scrap, which is 0.3 percent less year-on-year.
