During the first seven days of January, as part of the new EU quota period from January 1 to March 31, some quotas for imports of certain types of steel products allocated to India, China, Turkey and some countries from the "other countries" category were exceeded, while more than 70 percent of the quotas for certain types of steel the products have been consumed.
Looking at the exceeded quotas, India exceeded the quotas of 222,829 tons of HRC (1A) and 31,416 tons of stainless bars and light profiles, with 289,320 tons and 49,361 tons of these products respectively waiting in EU ports. The country has also exceeded quotas by 7,347 tons for rolled tin products and 5,955 tons for other welded pipes, while 18,569 tons and 8,206 tons of these products are awaiting customs clearance, respectively. China has exhausted quotas for 126,937 tons of metal-coated (4B) sheets, 138,863 tons for commodity rods and light profiles, 34,005 tons for other seamless pipes, and 6,929 tons for sheet piles, with 192,566 tons, 192,643 tons, 36,837 tons, and 7,123 tons of the products provided Accordingly, they are waiting at EU ports. In addition, the country also exceeded its quota of 5,504 tons for hollow profiles allocated to the "other countries" category.
As for the quotas allocated to Turkey, the country exceeded the quotas by 83,109 tons for hollow profiles, 48,938 tons for gas pipes and 14,782 tons for large welded pipes (25B), while 111,528 tons, 54,716 tons and 19,553 tons of these products are awaiting customs, respectively.
