The production of steel in the European Union in January 2013 increased by 7.3% compared to December 2012 and amounted to 12 million 541 thousand tons, which is 8.8% less than in January 2012. The production of steel in Germany increased by 17.4% - to 3 million 25 thousand tons, in France - by 21.9% - up to 1 million 108 thousand tons. Italian metallurgists reduced production volumes by 8.1% to 1 million 959 thousand tons, which is 14.2% less than in January last year.
