Canada’s iron ore concentrate output fell 4% in August

Canada produced 5,528,038 metric tons of iron ore concentrates in August 2026, down 4% from July and 5.7% from August 2025, according to Statistics Canada.

Shipments totaled 4,953,304 metric tons, up 35.1% month over month but down 14.4% year over year. Producers’ inventories fell 14.1% from July to 8,584,468 metric tons, while remaining 15.8% higher than a year earlier.
