The company plans to invest up to CZK 150 million ($7.17 million) during 2026. The funds will be used to modernize production, upgrade equipment and use energy more efficiently. These measures are expected to improve workplace safety, process reliability, and product quality.
Preparation for the EDP project
A key strategic initiative is the preparatory stage of the construction of an electric arc furnace (EDP) with an estimated investment value of about 17 billion Czech crowns (813.24 million dollars). After completion, the EDP can provide an annual steel production capacity of up to 1.5 million tons, which will significantly affect the future of steelmaking at the Nova Huta site.
Key operational investments planned for 2026
In addition to preparing the EAF, Nova Hut is planning several critical operational investments in 2026, including:
- reduction of energy consumption and emissions,
- utilization of waste heat in hot rolling lines,
- modernization of technologies and an increase in the share of products with higher added value,
- reduction of heavy manual labor and improvement of working conditions.
