The Ukrainian metallurgical plant "Kametstal", a subsidiary of the Ukrainian mining and metallurgical group "Metinvest", reports that of the 11 new types of metal products launched by Metinvest during 2025, seven were developed and implemented by the team at the enterprise, confirming its leading position among metallurgical enterprises Metinvest.
The company focused on demand from the Ukrainian and European markets, expanding the range of continuous casting products by four positions and the range of rolled products by three positions.
New steel grades developed in the converter shop
The key achievement of the Kametstal converter shop was the development of four new steel grades: 10U1, 20U, 26G2TR and S355NL-1N. These grades have more stringent requirements for the chemical composition, especially with regard to sulfur and phosphorus content.
The introduction of new grades required a number of coordinated technological solutions, including: enhanced control of hot metal desulfurization, optimization of converter scrap loading, selection of lime and slag thinners, and determination of the optimal duration of secondary metallurgy in a ladle furnace.
