According to the Association of Steel Producers of Ukraine Ukrmetallurgprom, for the whole of 2025, the total steel production in Ukraine amounted to 6.52 million tons against 6.22 million tons in 2024. 4.12 million tons, or 63.2% of total steel production, were exported, while 2.40 million tons, or 36.8%, were consumed on the domestic market. In 2024, 4.17 million tons or 67.0% of total steel production were shipped abroad, while domestic sales amounted to 2.05 million tons or 33.0% of total steel production. As a result, total steel exports fell by 1.1 percent, while total domestic steel sales increased by 16.9 percent year-on-year.
In 2025, exports of sheet steel increased by 11.1 percent to 1.82 million tons, while exports of semi-finished products totaled 1.42 million tons, which is 26.5 percent less than in the previous year. During the specified period, exports of long-gauge steel amounted to 893,000 tons, an increase of 45.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
The share of semi-finished products in exports in January-December was 34.25 percent, which is significantly lower than the 46.04 percent recorded for the same period in 2024, while the share of flat rolled products in exports was 44.09 percent, significantly exceeding the 39.23 percent recorded in the previous year. In addition, the share of long products increased to 22.66 percent from 14.72 percent registered in 2024.
