According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS), in 2025, China's hot rolled roll (HRC) production was 222.68 million tons, an increase of 4.2 percent year-on-year.
During the same period, China's cold-rolled roll (CRC) production amounted to 48.517 million tons, which is 6.9 percent more than last year.
In December alone, China's HRC and CRC production totaled 17.076 million tons and 4.316 million tons, down 4.8 percent and up 0.8 percent year-on-year, while down 4.16 percent and up 0.3 percent month-on-month, respectively.
In December, prices for HRC in the Chinese domestic market initially declined, rising slightly from mid-December, and then moving sideways by the end of the month. The highest price level for HRC in December was observed at 3415 yuan/ton ($488/ton) on December 1-2, and the lowest level was observed on December 16 at 3335 yuan/ton ($476/ton).
