Kazakh metallurgical plant Qarmet announced the start of construction of a new rolling mill at its steel plant. According to the company, the facility is planned to be put into operation within a year, and the first commercial deliveries of fittings are expected before the end of the year.
The company said that preparatory work at the site has already been completed. These included rerouting the blast furnace water pipeline, removing redundant structures within the future production area, providing access to necessary utilities and completing site leveling and access activities.
Rolling productivity will increase significantly
Qarmet currently operates a rolling mill with a nominal capacity of 400 000 tons per year, producing reinforcement with diameters from 10 mm to 32 mm. The new rolling mill will significantly expand these capabilities, with the site's annual production capacity up to 540,000 tons.
The facility will be equipped with a high-performance reheat furnace with a capacity of 100 tons per hour and will incorporate modern rolling technologies aimed at increasing operational efficiency while maintaining international product quality standards.
