According to SECEX, Brazil's foreign trade body, Brazil exported 156,937 tons of finished carbon steel products in December at a price of 98.638 million US dollars, and imported 237,983 tons at a price of 172.290 million US dollars.
By comparison, Brazil exported 209,929 tons of finished carbon steel products at a price of 152,867 million US dollars and imported 323,843 tons worth 220.651 million US dollars in November.
The figures for December indicate a commercial deficit of 81,046 tons against a deficit of 113,913 tons in November.
In dollar terms, the deficit was 72.651 million US dollars in December, compared with a deficit of 67.783 million US dollars in November. November.
In terms of volume, the main goods exported in December were rolled steel (52 percent), wire rod (20 percent) and rebar (14 percent).
The main goods imported in December were coated rolled products (50 percent), rolled products (22 percent), CRC (8 percent) and steel wire (8 percent).
