Japan's crude steel production decreased by four percent in 2025

In December last year, Japan's crude steel production decreased by three percent from the previous month and decreased by 4.8 percent from December 2024, totaling 6.57 million tons, according to data released by the Japan Federation of Ferrous Metallurgy (JISF).

Meanwhile, in the specified month, pig iron production in Japan amounted to 4.81 million metric tons, which is 0.5 percent less than in the previous month and 6.9 percent year-on-year.

In 2025, the country's steel production amounted to 80.68 million metric tons, which is four percent less than in 2024, and pig iron production amounted to 58.45 million metric tons, a decrease of 4.2 percent.
