According to the company's press release, net income in October-December increased to $378 million, or $1.64 per share, compared with $287 million, or $1.22 per share, in the same period last year. Adjusted earnings were $1.73 per share.
Nucor's revenue rose to $7.69 billion from $7.08 billion a year earlier.
Analysts, whose consensus forecast was provided by FactSet, estimated the company's adjusted earnings at $1.91 per share on revenue of $7.91 billion.
Nucor delivered 6,191 million tons of steel products in the fourth quarter, which is 2% higher than last year.
