Imports of slabs to the United States decreased by 30.7 percent in September 2025

According to preliminary data from the US Department of Commerce, imports of slabs to the US in September this year amounted to 232,727 tons, which is 30.7 percent less on a monthly basis and 36.7 percent less than in September 2024. In September 2024, the United States imported the most slabs from Brazil - 144,814 tons, compared with 189,893 tons in August and 262,478 tons in September 2024. Other major sources of imported slabs in September included Mexico with 48,016 tons and Japan with 29,359 tons.
