The Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Transport has announced that negotiations are underway with Chinese steel producer Xinfeng Steel to establish a large-scale integrated steel complex focused on the production of automotive steel.
Annual production capacity is planned at 10 million tons
According to local media reports, Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir said that negotiations with Xinfeng Steel covers a project costing approximately $10 billion with a planned annual production capacity of 10 million tons. The complex is expected to be built on an area of 10 million square meters, making it one of the largest expected steel investments in Egypt.
The proposed facility will include 1,780 mm and 2,250 mm wide hot rolling lines for the production of carbon steel, low-alloy high-strength steel, automotive steel, pipe steel, container sheets and engineering steels. Plate lines with an average width of 3500 mm are planned for shipbuilding slabs, bridges, pressure vessels, boilers, formwork and heavy structural slabs.
