Registrations of new commercial vehicles in the European Union (EU) fell by eight percent year-on-year to 1,792,971 units in 2025, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). The EU commercial vehicle market experienced a difficult year in 2025, with registrations falling in several major markets, a clear sign of a difficult economic situation. The only exception was the bus segment.
Last year, new EU truck registrations recorded a 6.2 percent year-on-year decline to 307,460 units. The decline was driven by a 5.4% decline in heavy truck sales. Bus sales, on the other hand, grew 7.5 percent year-on-year to 38,238 units.
Among the top four markets, Germany (-12.2%), France (-9.0%) and Spain (-3.6%) experienced declines in truck registrations.
