The Austrian steel company Voestalpine has announced the signing of an agreement to sell its high-performance metals division Voestalpine Böhler Profil to the American company Kadant Inc.
The transaction is still subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be completed by the end of fiscal year 2025-26.
Asset sale in line with strategic portfolio optimization
Voestalpine stated that the sale is part of the ongoing restructuring and optimization of its high-performance metals division. According to CEO Herbert Eibensteiner, the strategic review concluded that Boehler Profil no longer represents the core business for the group, given its structure, sales channels and operational processes.
He added that Kadant has demonstrated a strong and repeated interest in the company, especially its technical know-how and production capabilities, making it a suitable long-term owner for the business.
The restructuring of high-performance metals has been effectively completed
The Group noted that following the earlier sale of Buderus Edelstahl in Germany, consolidation of the site outside Austria, capacity adjustments at Voestalpine Böhler Bleche in Murzzuschlag, and now the sale of Böhler Profil. the restructuring of the high-performance metals division has been successfully completed.
