In 2025, exports of Japanese ferrous metallurgy products amounted to 30.39 million tons, which is 4.2 percent less than in 2024.
As for Japan's main ferrous metallurgy export markets, in 2025, the country's ferrous metallurgy exports to Thailand totaled 4.35 million metric tons, an increase of 1.4 percent, and exports to South Korea totaled 3.84 million metric tons, a decrease of 19.7 percent, while exports to China decreased by 12.6 percent to 2.33 one million metric tons. Exports to Taiwan totaled 1.83 million metric tons, up four percent, while exports to the United States totaled 1.09 million metric tons, down 9.3 percent from the same period last year.
