Yesterday, at a press conference, Deputy Secretary General of the Chinese Association Lee Shitszyun said that the total Chinese demand for iron ore with iron content at least 62% will reach 1 billion 110 million tons in 2013, which is 5.7% more than last year.
Recall that over the past year, China imported 744 million tons of iron ore, which was 8.43% more than in 2011. At the same time, the production of its own iron ore raw materials with a low iron content amounted to about 1 billion 300 million tons.
Mr. Lee also said that the domestic demand in China for metal rubles last year increased by 4.1% to 670 million tons, while the capacities for the production of raw steel increased to 970 million tons.
