According to Sarralle, modernization work is underway as part of the SteelUp project! These included the installation of a new 155-ton DC electric arc furnace, as well as the modernization of the steam exhaust system and the material processing system, as well as the installation of a new 145-ton vacuum degasser. The manufacturer added that the scope of the project also includes the modernization of the existing continuous casting machine and the improvement of the water treatment plant at the site.
The company stated that SteelUp! The project was a comprehensive modernization of the existing steel mill in Belvala. The main objective of the project was to allow the site to achieve self-sufficient production of high-quality steel for the long-range market.
Sarralle emphasized that the modernization is particularly aimed at supplying steel to rolling mills located in Rodange, while significantly reducing dependence on semi-finished products previously supplied from blast furnace steel mills in Germany.
