The agreement formalizes a common desire to accelerate the emergence of a large-scale low-carbon industrial center in Fos-sur-Mer, strengthening the facility's role in industrial decarbonization and strategic autonomy of Europe.
Three flagship projects anchoring the low-carbon cluster
The partnership brings together three complementary projects that together form an integrated low-carbon value chain.:
- GravitHy is developing a low-carbon iron production plant with a target annual capacity of two million tons by 2030, which reduces carbon emissions by about 90 percent compared to traditional blast furnace-based steel production routes.
- Elyse Energy, as part of its NeoCarb project, plans to produce and distribute low-carbon molecules such as e-methanol and e-SAF from 2030, supporting the decarbonization of the marine and aviation sectors.
- Marcegaglia is promoting its Mistral project, a modernized low-carbon steel production facility that is expected to achieve more than a 90 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 2028.
Together, these investments are aimed at creating a unique industrial ecosystem.
