Agreements have been concluded with Quadra Energy, Statkraft, Centrica Energy and Sunnic Lighthouse covering electricity generated by wind and solar projects throughout Germany. The contract volumes will support the operations of thyssenkrupp Rasselstein, thyssenkrupp Precision Steel and thyssenkrupp Electrical Steel.
The agreements support emission reduction and stability of renewable capacities
The contracted renewable electricity corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of about 70,000 households and is expected to reduce emissions by more than 70,000 mt of emissions per year.
In addition to reducing emissions, PPAs help ensure the continuous operation of wind farms that are no longer eligible for government subsidies, while maintaining the stability of renewable energy production facilities in Germany.
The share of renewable electricity is increasing in all specialized steel mills
Since the beginning of the year, renewable electricity has been supplied mainly to Thyssenkrupp Rasselstein and Thyssenkrupp Electrical Steel. The company has also allocated its facility in Hohenlimburg, which from mid-2024 receives renewable energy directly from a nearby wind farm via a special three-kilometer cable.
