Last December, imports of hot rolled steel (HRC) to Turkey totaled 255,425 metric tons, down 35.8 percent from November and 16.5 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports amounted to $138.34 million, down 34.4 percent from the previous month and 17.5 percent year-on-year.
In 2025, imports of HRC to Turkey amounted to 3.89 million tons, an increase of 7.9%, while the value of these imports fell by 6.2% to $2.12 billion, year-on-year.

This year, China was the largest source of HRC imports to Turkey, which supplied 1.37 million tons, which is 18.9 percent less than last year. China is followed by Russia with 919,025 tons, which is 58.2% more, and Egypt with 438,980 tons, which is 28.5% less compared to 2024.
