According to the SECEX foreign trade agency, Brazilian pig iron exports reached 407,700 tons in January 2026, compared with 273,100 tons in December 2025.
The increase mainly reflects an increase in exports to the United States.
Destinations in January were the United States (306,800 tons per year). 388 USD/ton), Europe (65,200 tons at 413 USD/ton), Mexico (33,500 tons at 375 USD/ton), Asia (1,900 tons at 489 USD/ton) and Chile (300 tons at 500 USD/tont).
Exports were made from producers from the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Espiritu Santo. (329,300 tons), from Para in the north (52,000 tons) and from Mato Grosso do Sul in the central-western region (26,400 tons).
Such prices were probably agreed in November 2025, with the price of the BPI grade below 414 USD per ton and the price of the foundry grade above this level.
